All of my work as a Vedic astrologer is meant to help people.  Providing solutions is the core of what I am meant to share.

So, in the midst of writing the November newsletter I found myself feeling a little heavy as I attempted to give everyone important details about the ‘wild ride’ that will go down in the history books.

With Sandy the tropical storm destroying parts of the U.S. Eastern Shore and the likely contentious and confusing voting day of 2012 as Mercury goes Retrograde, and the two eclipses of November, I was feeling the need to give some solutions to weather the storms ahead.

Happily, I was reminded of my favorite kind of solutions – CHOOSE HAPPINESS.

Did you know that we can choose Happiness?  Well we can.

Did you know that we can remain clear and take great care of ourselves even in the midst of upheaval and great changes in our life? Cultivating happiness actually helps us perform better in stressful times.

Practicing the scientifically tested methods  mentioned below – DAILY – will change your life, and give you optimism and help you weather personal storms or phases of change.  You can prepare and prime your mind and body to surf through the big waves of your life.

Burt’s Bees Inc. found a way to help its employees as they went through an intense time of change. They consulted with the author of The Happiness Advantage to soften the edges of a great time of change at the company, and they actually increased productivity in a time of upheaval.  Better performance is not the goal, it is a side effect of practicing these methods that develop Happiness.  The story was on the cover Harvard Business Review for January 2012.

Shawn Achor opens 2012 with some positive solutions to develop the habits that support Happiness.  That’s right, we can develop habits that lead to more happiness and success in our lives.

 

I have been quoting the neuro biology research and behavioral science on how Happiness and even the perception of Luck can be built into our lives, like building muscles and habits of success to my friends and clients for years.

It makes me happy to share the science behind developing a happier life.

Our experience of the world comes from our perception of our immediate environment (at least Shawn Achor says 90% of it does).  This is an ancient concept perfected by yogis, meditators and ‘the enlightened’ and now neuro science is finally catching up and proving these concepts to be true.

So, no matter how your November 2012 fares, you can develop and manifest better days with tried and true practices.

Some ideas mentioned in the article

“Choose one of five activities that correlate with positive change:

  • Jot down three things they were grateful for.
  • Write a positive message to someone in their social support network.
  • Meditate at their desk for two minutes.
  • Exercise for 10 minutes.
  • Take two minutes to describe in a journal the most meaningful experience of the past 24 hours.”
  • Smile often (at least 3 times per day) it is infectious and spreads more smiles.
